Projectgroup image

The aim of this research is to investigate the difference of adult and children perception of abstract art. Using an eye-tracking device, two groups of subjects (a group of children and a group of adults) will be shown pictures of art pieces. They will be connected to the eye-tracking device, hence, we will be able to fol- low their eye movement across the pictures. Ten works of art will be presented to the subjects; these works will represent a “hidden” image. Among others, we have chosen “Girl with a Mandolin” by Pablo Picasso and “Nudes in the Forest” by Fernand Léger. We chose abstract art pieces for the reason that they are difficult for children to understand, and because children might possibly not even detect the image that it presents. The aim is to show images that children might not be able to recognise/detect, while adults, due to experience, will recognise them.
